# Convert Currency Compatibility Options Explained

To keep currency conversion working with PayPal plugins, PayFast, YITH add-ons and WooCommerce Subscriptions, open **WPFactory > Payment Gateway Currency > Convert Currency > Compatibility** in [Payment Gateway Currency for WooCommerce](https://wpfactory.com/item/payment-gateways-by-currency-for-woocommerce/), tick the option for each plugin you use, and save. These compatibility options are free.

## Where to find it

Go to **WPFactory > Payment Gateway Currency** (also reachable at **WooCommerce > Settings > Payment Gateway Currency**), then open the **Compatibility** sub-tab under Convert Currency.

## What each option does

- **Always show PayPal** and **Always show PayFast** add your shop currency to the list of currencies those gateways accept. Without this, WooCommerce hides PayPal or PayFast when your shop currency is not one they support, even though the plugin would convert the payment to a supported currency.
- The four **PayPal plugin** options pass the gateway's converted currency to that plugin's PayPal buttons and SDK, so the amount PayPal charges matches the converted checkout total.
- **YITH WooCommerce Account Funds Premium** and **YITH WooCommerce Product Add-Ons** make those plugins show converted amounts.
- **WooCommerce Subscriptions** recalculates each new renewal order with the current exchange rate, instead of keeping the rate from the first order.

## Options

| Label | Option ID | Default |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Always show PayPal | `alg_wc_pgbc_convert_currency_paypal_show_always` | Yes |
| Always show PayFast | `alg_wc_pgbc_convert_currency_payfast_show_always` | Yes |
| WooCommerce PayPal Checkout Gateway | `alg_wc_pgbc_convert_currency_ppec_paypal` | Yes |
| WooCommerce PayPal Payments | `alg_wc_pgbc_convert_currency_ppcp` | No |
| PayPal for WooCommerce by Angell EYE | `alg_wc_pgbc_convert_currency_angelleye_ppcp` | No |
| Payment Plugins for PayPal WooCommerce by Payment Plugins | `alg_wc_pgbc_convert_currency_payment_plugins_ppcp` | No |
| YITH WooCommerce Account Funds Premium | `alg_wc_pgbc_convert_currency_yith_account_funds` | No |
| YITH WooCommerce Product Add-Ons | `alg_wc_pgbc_convert_currency_yith_product_add_ons` | No |
| WooCommerce Subscriptions (Recalculate renewal orders) | `alg_wc_pgbc_convert_currency_wc_subscriptions_renewal` | No |

## Things to know

- **WooCommerce PayPal Checkout Gateway** also needs **Convert on AJAX** enabled in the General sub-tab to work with PayPal Checkout buttons on the product page.
- **YITH WooCommerce Product Add-Ons**: for best results, disable **Convert on AJAX** (General) and set **Cache prices** (Advanced) to **Product ID and product changes**.
- **WooCommerce Subscriptions**: renewal recalculation only applies when the parent order was originally converted by this plugin (v2.0.0 or later). Enabling it removes the "Recalculate with new rate" button from the order meta box.

## Set it up

1. Make sure **Convert currency** is enabled and the gateway has a currency and rate on the main Convert Currency sub-tab.
2. Open **WPFactory > Payment Gateway Currency > Convert Currency > Compatibility**.
3. Tick only the plugins you actually use, and apply the extra settings from "Things to know" above.
4. Click **Save changes**, then place a test order with that gateway and check the amount charged.

## If it does not work

- The PayPal plugin still charges in your shop currency. Check the compatibility box for that exact plugin, and for WooCommerce PayPal Checkout Gateway also enable **Convert on AJAX**.
- The gateway has no currency set. In the free version you can set a currency only for Direct bank transfer, Check payments, Cash on delivery, PayPal and WooCommerce PayPal Payments. Angell EYE, Payment Plugins, PayFast and other gateways need Pro.
- Renewals keep the old rate. The parent order must have been converted by the plugin (v2.0.0 or later) for renewal recalculation to work.
- Add-on prices do not update. Use the recommended **Convert on AJAX** and **Cache prices** settings for YITH Product Add-Ons.

## FAQ

### Why does PayPal disappear when I use a currency PayPal does not support?

WooCommerce hides PayPal for unsupported shop currencies. Keep **Always show PayPal** on (the default) so PayPal stays available, and set a supported currency for PayPal on the main Convert Currency sub-tab.

### Do I need to enable every option?

No. Enable only the options for plugins installed on your store. Each one only affects its named plugin.

### Are the compatibility options free?

Yes, all of them. What Pro adds is the ability to set a currency for gateways beyond the five standard ones.
