# Convert Currency Options Explained

## Convert Currency: set a target currency per payment gateway

To convert currency per payment gateway in [Payment Gateway Currency for WooCommerce](https://wpfactory.com/item/payment-gateways-by-currency-for-woocommerce/), go to WPFactory > Payment Gateway Currency, open the Convert Currency tab, and tick Convert currency to enable the section. Each gateway then gets fields for its target currency, conversion rate, currency symbol, and number of decimals. The currency follows the gateway chosen at checkout.

### Where to find it

Go to **WPFactory > Payment Gateway Currency** (also reachable at **WooCommerce > Settings > Payment Gateway Currency**). The **Convert Currency** tab is the default view.

### Turn the mode on

1. Tick **Convert currency** (the "Enable section" checkbox) to activate the mode.
2. Each installed gateway then shows its own block with four fields.

### Per-gateway options

| Label | Option ID | What it does | Default |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Convert currency | `alg_wc_pgbc_convert_currency[{gateway}]` | The target currency for this gateway. Leave on "No changes" to keep the shop currency. | No changes |
| Conversion rate | `alg_wc_pgbc_convert_rate[{gateway}]` | How many units of the target currency equal 1 unit of the shop currency. | empty |
| Currency symbol | `alg_wc_pgbc_convert_symbol[{gateway}]` | Override the symbol shown. Leave empty for the currency's default symbol. | empty |
| Number of decimals | `alg_wc_pgbc_convert_num_decimals[{gateway}]` | Override the decimal places for this gateway. Leave empty for the store default. | empty |

### Example

Set the **Direct bank transfer** gateway to convert to **EUR** with a conversion rate of `0.92`, while all other gateways stay in USD. A customer who selects Direct bank transfer at checkout sees the cart totals in euros; anyone using another gateway keeps US dollars.

### Set rates automatically

You can type rates by hand, or update them automatically from the European Central Bank, Fixer.io, or a multi-currency plugin. See [Update exchange rates automatically](https://wpfactory.com/docs/set-up-automatic-exchange-rates/).

### Resetting

Each section has a **Reset section settings** checkbox at the bottom (`alg_wc_pgbc_{section}_reset`). Tick it and save to clear that section's options.
