# How to Automatically Increase (Restore) WooCommerce Stock

To restore product stock automatically when an order is cancelled, refunded, or reaches another chosen event, use the Increase Stock section of [Automated Stock Update Triggers for WooCommerce](https://wpfactory.com/item/stock-triggers-for-woocommerce/). This is a free feature. As with decreases, the increase happens only once per order, on the first selected trigger.

**Important:** increase only restores stock that the plugin (or WooCommerce) previously reduced for that order. It does not add new stock beyond the amount that was taken.

### Set it up

1. Go to **WPFactory > Stock Triggers** (also reachable at **WooCommerce > Settings > Stock Triggers**), **General** sub-section.
2. Under **Increase Stock**, turn on **Enable section** (`alg_wc_stock_triggers_enabled[increase]`).
3. In **Triggers** (`alg_wc_stock_triggers[increase]`), select the events that should restore stock. The default is Cancelled and Pending payment.
4. Click **Save changes**.

### Triggers available in the free version

The Increase Stock section offers the same 10 standard triggers as Decrease Stock: the 7 core order statuses (Cancelled, Completed, On hold, Pending payment, Processing, Failed, Refunded) plus Payment complete, Checkout order processed, and Checkout update order meta. Custom order statuses appear only in the Pro version.

### Common setups

- **Restore on cancellation and refund:** select Cancelled and Refunded so stock returns when an order is reversed.
- **Restore on failed payment:** add Failed if you want stock freed when payment does not go through.

### The other Increase Stock options

- **Custom triggers** (Pro): type extra action hook names, one per line. It is a text field, not code.
- **Remove standard triggers** (Free): removes WooCommerce's own stock restore from events you did not select. On by default.
- **Force order stock update** (Free): forces the change through when WooCommerce would skip it.
- **Require products / Require product categories** (Free): only restore stock when the order matches your selection. Every item in the order must match; an empty selection is ignored. See [Restrict Stock Triggers to specific products or categories](/docs/woocommerce-stock-triggers-require-products-categories/).

### Ready to set this up?

Automatic stock restore is free in [Automated Stock Update Triggers for WooCommerce](https://wpfactory.com/item/stock-triggers-for-woocommerce/). For custom order statuses and free-form triggers, [the Pro version](https://wpfactory.com/item/stock-triggers-for-woocommerce/) adds them.
