# Restrict the VAT Field and Payment Methods (Pro)

EU/UK VAT Manager for WooCommerce Pro adds six targeting options. On the General sub-tab at WPFactory > EU VAT, you can show the field only for selected countries or user roles, restrict payment methods to valid VAT, and allow unregistered numbers. On the Validation sub-tab, you can check country by IP and check company name.

### Before you start

- WooCommerce, active.
- [EU/UK VAT Manager](https://wpfactory.com/item/eu-vat-for-woocommerce/) Pro: these options are disabled in the free version.

### Field visibility targeting

On the **General** sub-tab at **WPFactory > EU VAT** (also reachable at **WooCommerce > Settings > EU VAT**):

- **Show field for selected countries only** (`alg_wc_eu_vat_show_in_countries`): enter country codes to limit the field, for example the EU countries only.
- **Show field for selected user roles only** (`alg_wc_eu_vat_show_for_user_roles`): show the field only to the roles you pick.

### Payment and checkout gating

- **Show specific payment method only if VAT is valid** (`alg_wc_eu_vat_allow_specific_payment`) and **Method to show for valid VAT only** (`alg_wc_eu_vat_allowed_payment_gateway`): reveal chosen gateways only to validated customers.
- **Allow checkout on unregistered VAT numbers** (`alg_wc_eu_vat_field_allow_unregistered_vat_no`): let customers complete checkout even when the number is not registered in VIES.

### Advanced VIES checks

On the **Validation** sub-tab:

- **Check country by IP** (`alg_wc_eu_vat_check_ip_location_country`): confirm the customer's IP country matches the country in the VAT number.
- **Check company name** (`alg_wc_eu_vat_check_company_name`): confirm the billing company matches the VIES record. Pair it with **Accept empty responses** (`alg_wc_eu_vat_check_company_name_accept_empty_response`) to skip the check when VIES returns no company name.
