# Order Status Rules Options Explained

The main options of [Scheduled & Automatic Order Status Controller for WooCommerce](https://wpfactory.com/item/order-status-rules-for-woocommerce/) are in **WPFactory > Order Status Rules > General**: **Enable plugin** switches everything on or off, and **Total rules** sets how many **Rule** sections you get. Each rule you build then lives in its own Rule section.

## Where these options live

Go to **WPFactory > Order Status Rules** (also reachable at **WooCommerce > Settings > Order Status Rules**). The first section is **General**.

## General options

| Label | Option ID | Type | Default | Free/Pro |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Order Status Rules (Enable plugin) | `alg_wc_order_status_rules_plugin_enabled` | Checkbox | Yes (enabled) | Free |
| Total rules | `alg_wc_order_status_rules_total` | Number | 1 | Editable in Pro |
| Reset section settings | `alg_wc_order_status_rules__reset` | Checkbox | No | Free |

## How each option works

1. **Order Status Rules (Enable plugin):** the master switch. It is on by default. Turn it off to stop status history tracking, automatic rule processing (hooks, WP cron and Action Scheduler), the My Account history and the Extra status overrides, without deleting your rules.
2. **Total rules:** the number of rule sections shown. In the free version this stays at 1 and the field is read-only. In Pro you can raise it, then click **Save changes** and the plugin adds the matching **Rule #2**, **Rule #3** sections.
3. **Reset section settings:** at the bottom of every section (including General). Tick it and save to restore that section to defaults.

**Note:** "Reset section settings" only affects the section you are viewing. On a rule section it clears that rule; on the General section it clears the general options.

## The other sections at a glance

| Section | What it controls |
| --- | --- |
| Rule #1 (and more in Pro) | **Enable/Disable**, **Status from**, **Status to**, **Admin title**, **Time trigger**, **Skip days**, **Skip dates**, plus conditions such as amounts, payment and shipping, countries, products, coupons, users, dates and meta. |
| Advanced | When status changes are saved and rules are processed, the admin meta box, orders query limits, status history handling and periodic processing with WP cron or Action Scheduler. |
| Extra | The default order status and the status after Direct bank transfer, Check payments and COD checkout. |
| My Account | Showing the status history on **My Account > Orders**. |
| Tools | **Run all rules now**, plus the next scheduled run and the list of enabled rules. |

Everything in these sections works in the free version. See [how to set up an order status rule](https://wpfactory.com/docs/setting-the-rule/), [the Advanced options](https://wpfactory.com/docs/advanced-options-overview/) and [how to copy and reset rule settings](https://wpfactory.com/docs/copy-and-reset-order-status-rule-settings/).

## If rules are not running

- **Enable plugin** is off in General.
- The rule's own **Enable/Disable** checkbox (**Enable rule #1**) is off. It is off by default for every new rule.
- You raised **Total rules** but did not click **Save changes**, so the new Rule sections have not appeared yet.

## FAQ

### Why can't I change Total rules?

The field is read-only in the free version, which runs one rule. Pro makes it editable.

### Does turning off Enable plugin delete my rules?

No. Your settings stay saved. Only a **Reset section settings** save clears a section.

### Does the single free rule have fewer conditions?

No. The free rule has the full set of conditions and timing options. Pro adds more rules, not more options.

### Add more than one rule

The single free rule supports the full set of conditions and timing options. To run several rules at once, [Order Status Rules](https://wpfactory.com/item/order-status-rules-for-woocommerce/) Pro raises the **Total rules** limit.
