Problem Description #
Updating the Cost of Goods plugin or WooCommerce can cause fatal errors, parse errors, or the site entering recovery mode.
Common Symptoms:
- White screen of death (WSOD) after update.
- Errors like E_PARSE or E_ERROR.
Cause:
- Conflicts with outdated PHP version.
- Other plugins incompatible with new plugin version.
Solution
- Ensure PHP version meets plugin requirements (PHP 7.4+ recommended).
- Update WooCommerce to latest stable version.
- Deactivate all plugins except WooCommerce and Cost of Goods.
- Re-enable plugins one by one to identify conflict.
- Restore backup if site is in recovery mode.
