Problem Description #
After enabling Popups for WooCommerce, store owners see each notification twice: once as the popup, and again as the native WooCommerce notice. This can confuse customers, showing redundant messages.
Common symptoms #
- On “Add to Cart” or checkout error/success, the popup appears and the original Woo notice is still visible. WordPress.org
- Users see two similar messages stacked, or overlapping, or with different styling.
Cause #
By default, the plugin may not automatically hide WooCommerce’s native notices. If the setting to suppress default messages is not enabled, both the native notice and the popup appear, leading to duplication. Prior users overlooked this configuration, resulting in repeated messages.WordPress.org
Solution (step‑by‑step) #
- Go to WordPress Admin → WooCommerce → Settings → Popups for WooCommerce (or similar plugin settings).
- Locate the option controlling default WooCommerce notices (e.g., “Hide default Woo notices when popup is used”).
- Enable that option, so that native notices are suppressed when popups are active.
- Save settings.
- Test by adding a product to cart or triggering a notice (e.g., invalid coupon) — confirm only popup appears, no duplicate notice.
- If duplication persists: clear browser cache & any page‑cache/CDN cache, then re-test.
Prerequisites #
- Using version of Popups for WooCommerce where “hide default notice” setting exists (most recent versions). WordPress.org+1
Additional Notes #
- If you use a page builder or custom theme that overrides WC notice behavior, ensure that no other plugin or theme code re‑injects original notices.
- Always test after changing settings, especially on both desktop and mobile (popup behaviour may differ).
