I have a site that’s been around forever. I installed your free version and found 25K old slugs. Perhaps a bit more education on how this would a) affect my site if using your plugin (can it handle deleting 25K slugs?) and b) what is the purpose of deleting these slugs, for db optimization/bloat? c) Will it negatively affect our site in any way?
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi Jade,

    a) Yes, generally, the plugin can delete 25K old slugs. However, if you have a low WordPress memory limit, you may need to increase it. You can read more about increasing WP memory limit here. Also, if your server’s time limit is low, you may need to increase that as well.

    b) Yes, that’s correct. If you clear all your old slugs, your database will be smaller by 25K rows.

    c) Before deleting the old slugs, you need to consider one aspect – are there any links on the Internet that are still using some of your old slugs. As long as old slugs are not deleted, WordPress will automatically redirect old links to new links (i.e. with new slugs) for your visitors, however, as soon as you delete them, old links will produce a “404 Page not found” error.

Hope that helps. Please let me know if you have any questions.
