This plugin generates GTIN codes that are not valid according to Google. The message is “Invalid GTIN: Use a GTIN that’s not restricted; GS1 hasn’t released the current value yet.” Could you please advice? Thank you!

    Hi there,

I hope this message finds you well.

To help resolve the issue, could you please navigate to the “Tools” section of the plugin and update the “Country prefix”? If you’re already using your country’s prefix, kindly confirm the value you’re using. Additionally, could you provide an example of the “invalid” GTIN that you’re encountering?

We look forward to your reply.

    Kind regards.

    Hi,

    Thank you for your message.

The generated GTIN should follow the official GS1 format in order to be accepted by external validators and services such as Google. Please make sure the following points are met:

    • The GTIN length is valid (GTIN-8, GTIN-12, GTIN-13, or GTIN-14).
    • The check digit (last digit) is correct according to the GS1 checksum calculation.
    • The prefix used is not within a restricted range (for example 200–299, which is typically reserved for internal use).

Please check the Country prefix configured in WooCommerce → EAN → Tools, update it if necessary, and generate a new GTIN to test again.

Also note that even if a generated GTIN passes the checksum validation, Google may still reject it if it does not belong to a real GS1-issued range. In such cases, the recommended solution is to use official GTIN numbers issued by GS1 rather than automatically generated ones.

    Best Regards,
