Problem Description #
When editing a variable product, the min/max/step quantity fields for individual variations may be missing, not saving, or on the frontend the global product min/max applies instead of variation-specific values.
Common Symptoms:
- Variation edit screen lacks min/max/step fields. WordPress.org+1
- On product page, quantity selector shows global / default values rather than variation-specific min/max. WordPress.org+1
- Changing variation does not update the quantity restrictions.
Cause:
- Using a version of the plugin that doesn’t support variation-level rules (or variation support is broken).
- Theme or custom template override for variation products does not render plugin’s variation-specific inputs properly.
Solution (step-by-step)
- Ensure you run the latest version of Min Max plugin, as variation support may have been improved in recent versions. WordPress.org+1
- Edit product → go to Product Data → Variations tab and expand each variation: check if you see min, max, step fields , if not, plugin may not support your variation type or there is a conflict.
- Check global plugin settings , ensure you haven’t enabled a setting that forces global min/max values for all products, which will override variation-specific ones.
- Test with default theme and no other plugins (except WooCommerce + Min Max) , this helps identify theme or plugin conflicts that hide or break variation input fields.
- If variation fields still missing , open support ticket with plugin authors: provide Woo/WP versions, sample product, and screenshot of missing fields.
Prerequisites
- Plugin version that includes variation-level support.
- Proper variable product configuration in WooCommerce.
Additional Notes
- For stores with many variations, keep a spreadsheet noting which variation has which min/max , easier to manage external to plugin UI.
Consider using bulk-edit tools (if plugin or WooCommerce provides) to speed up variation-based settings.
