Configuring the Plugin

  • Navigate to WooCommerce > Settings > Export.

Understanding the Export Tabs

The plugin provides separate tabs for exporting different data sets

  • Products: This tab allows you to export product information like name, description, stock levels, prices, attributes, and more.
  • Orders: This tab allows you to export order details like order ID, status, date, customer information, items purchased, and financial data.
  • Customers: This tab allows you to export customer information like name, email address, billing and shipping details, user roles, and purchase history.
  • Customers from Orders: This tab allows you to export customer data specifically associated with their orders placed in your store.

General Export Settings

Before diving into specific data exports, the plugin offers general settings applicable to all export types

  • CSV Separator: Define the character separating values in the exported CSV file (default is comma).
  • CSV Wrap: Enable text wrapping within quotes for data containing special characters.
  • UTF-8 BOM: Add a Byte Order Mark (BOM) to ensure proper character encoding for UTF-8 format.
  • Content Length Header: Disabling this might resolve issues of “endless” file download when exporting large datasets.
  • User Capability: Set the user role required to access the export functionality (default is administrators).
  • Timepicker: Enables a timepicker for the custom date range selection in all export tools.
  • Secondary Separator Options: Define separators used within specific data fields for better organization in the exported file (e.g., separating variations within product attributes).
  • Advanced Options: These might include settings like Block Size (for product CSV exports) to manage data processing for very large datasets.

Exporting Products

  • Click on the Products tab.
  • From the left table, select the product data fields you want to export.
  • To reorder the fields, simply drag and drop them in the right table.
  • Click Save Changes to save your selection.
  • Choose Preview to see a sample of the exported data before committing to the full export.
  • Click Export to generate the complete CSV or XML file (depending on your chosen format).

Exporting Orders and Customers

Follow similar steps as outlined for exporting products

  • Click on the desired tab (Orders or Customers).
  • Select the data fields you want to export.
  • Optionally, customize the export using additional features like filtering by date range (available in some versions).
  • Save changes, preview, and then export the data.

By following these steps, you’ll be able to install and configure the Products & Order Export for WooCommerce plugin to effectively export your store’s product and order data, allowing you to gain valuable insights and manage your business efficiently.
