    Greetings

Your product works perfectly for inputting our manufacturer’s EAN into Woo and it is 5-star compared to others. The next step is to allow https://woocommerce.com/products/point-of-sale-for-woocommerce/  to allocate this EAN as a “Scanning Field”. The POS scanning setup has a dropdown box for selecting the scanning field but sadly your EAN field does not show up and cannot be selected amongst the long random dropdown list.

The same issue happens when trying to import EAN’s with WP All Import from Sofly (EAN does not appear in any dropdown box so cannot be selected), however there is no problem through Tools/Import/Woo Products which works fine as a product update field.

I think it is a similar issue to Melina (June 4) – a link for your EAN field to product meta is needed for other dropdowns to “see” it (I’m not a programmer so hopefully you understand).

    Can provide more data….

    Thanks in advance

Seems that the inability to select the EAN in the dropdown is an issue with the OceanWP theme that I am running – tested it with bog standard storefront and works fine – sorry to bother you.

    Hi John,

    Sorry for the late reply.

Glad to hear it’s working now, however, to be honest, I’m not sure if this was theme’s fault. I mean, this dropdown is in backend, correct? If it is – theme shouldn’t affect it. I’m thinking, maybe POS plugin needed some time to go through products and find the new field, i.e. our EAN field. Anyway, if you wish, I can take a look at it either on your server, or you can send me POS plugin zip directly – my email is [email protected]. As for “WP All Import” – it’s this one – https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-all-import/, correct?

    Hi John,

I’ve researched it a little, and here is what I’ve got:

    1. “Point of Sale for WooCommerce” plugin: I can confirm that this plugin needs some time to pick up our EAN field. Please note that you have to add EAN manually to at least one product, so “Point of Sale for WooCommerce” plugin could find the field. This being said – we’ve just released a new version of our plugin (v2.2.0) – now EAN field will be added to the POS plugin’s “Register > Scanning Fields” option right away, so there is no need to wait anymore.

    2. “WP All Import” plugin: While I didn’t find a way to add our field there automatically, you can easily import it by using their “Custom Fields” section. When you reach 3rd step of their import procedure, there is “Custom Fields” section there. You need to set field’s “Name” to _alg_ean. That should do the trick.

    Hope that helps.

    Hello Tom

Your update did the trick and I have Woocommerce Point of Sale working perfectly using your EAN plugin loaded with the original manufacturers barcode  as the POS scanning default. Thank you!
