Error message not appearing on wrong minimum quantities

When i set the minimum QTY the error message does not show up if they select less than the minimum, although it automatically applies the correct minimum qty to cart. I would prefer if customers were shown the error message if they go below the minimum qty. Is there a way to fix this?
