How can I exclude some products from the required minimum amount?

I am new to WordPress and trying to do something simple. I want to suppress the minimum order amount for certain products that are virtual and have no minimum needed. I upgraded to the Pro version but despite adding settings, it continues to check for a minimum order. I tried setting the amount to -1 for the product category but that did not work. I also tried setting it per product to -1 but that also did not work. Is there a simple procedure to suppress the minimum required amount for a product?
