How to automatically add costs to specific orders?

I was wondering how I would add a custom cost to each order if it changes based on the order. for example if an order qualifies for free shipping I would incur a cost sending it by UPS how would I capture the UPS shipping charge in an orders cost? keep in mind the amount can change based on the order and I cannot just use a percentage factor

Just in case it helps someone, we have the following option:
– Orders > Extra Costs: From Meta

It could be helpful in such cases. It would be necessary to figure out the order meta related to that specific cost.

For example, payments using Stripe have this meta: _stripe_fee.
