GuestDear Sirs hello,
I have purchased your plugin for EU VAT Exemption, but for two websites I developed, the tax must be computed based on the shipping address (and not the Billing Address). This is done in order to avoid case scenarios where:
A customer is located in Cyprus (shop country). On the billing address fields, the customer is using another valid European VAT number or chooses a country outside the EU such as Australia (and VAT becomes 0%). But for the shipping address, he adds an address in Cyprus. Exempting VAT in this case is wrong because VAT should be exempted if and only if the product gets out of the store country (Cyrpus).
How can your VAT exempt plugin work for shipping address instead of billing address (_billing_eu_vat_number)?
Also, is there an updated version of the plugin? I believe the labels/explanations with the list of countries have changed, as Great Britain is not part of the European Union anymore.
Many thanks in advance for your time.

ModeratorHi Natasa,
For the first part, the plugin doens’t control where the tax is implied, it validates the tax regardless of that setting, because you control tax (to be on billing or shipping address) from your WooCommerce settings >> Tax >> Tax options >> Calculate tax based on … here is where you change how to calcualte your VAT, and the plugin will follow that accordingly.
For the EU countries list, it will be fixed soon, just waiting some confirmations from the lawyer on official changes and how to handle them.

GuestHello,
I replied back to info email with screenshots showing that the plugin doesn’t work if the taxation is computed based on the shipping address.
Many thanks!

ParticipantHello,
Natasa made a very good point because indeed the plugin does not compute based on the shipping address.
We have purchased the plugin today hoping that it does take the shipping address into consideration.
When will this be fixed?
Thank you!

ModeratorHello eGletiere,
Please send us to [email protected] as this thread is almost 1 year old, just to clarify, the plugin doesn’t calculate tax, the store does, the plugin validates & removes VAT if a valid VAT number is provided on checkout.
Please let us know if you get into any sort of issues.
