I’ve herrited a client site with this plugin installed. We have now an issue where a VAT-number of a buyer was not registered on the VIES database. So, order is not passed. Is there a setting where we can always approve the vat-number, even though it’s not exists in the VIES database.
I found the setting “Skip VAT validation for selected countries”, but if we activate our country over there, people who fill in “Lo” of some 2 characters; then the VAT of the total price is removed. Which is a big problem. So, if the only option is to use “ship validation”, how can we prevent the tax to drop from the total price. Thanks!Hi Dave,
Sorry but I didn’t get it when you said “approve VAT even if not on VIES”, so you mean to remove the tax/VAT on checkout even if the VAT number is invalid? Then what’s the need of using the plugin here?
If you mean just passing the order (preserving VAT) even with wrong VAT number, that’s not an issue since the plugin doesn’t block checkout.

Well, for our website the plugin does block checkout.
We cannot place an order (with VAT invoiced) having entered an invalid VAT number for a country that validation is active for.
Am I missing a setting that would fix this?

Hi Tudor,
Under General tab, make sure you don’t have “Block checkout” ticked.
If you need more help, please send us wp-admin access to [email protected] so we can check the settings and see what is causing this.

Hi!
I don’t see a block checkout setting, but I do see this one: “Required – Sets if EU VAT field is required on checkout”.
Even though it’s unchecked we get the message “EU VAT Number is not valid” when trying to check out.
