“Your account is already verified” for non-verified users

Hi, when I register on the site and received the verification email it leads me to “my account” pages with the message “your account is already verified” even though it is a new, unverified user registration. How can I redirect the new user to a page stating “Your account has been activated!”? I already tried to change this in the “redirect on success” setting but it did not work.
