Cost of Goods Reports

This knowledge base article explores the comprehensive reporting functionalities offered by the Cost of Goods for WooCommerce plugin (pro version) by WP Factory. These reports provide valuable insights into your store’s profitability and cost management.

Understanding the Reports:

The plugin offers dedicated reports across various sections:

  • Orders Report: This report focuses on order details and includes filters based on order status (pending payment, processing, on-hold, completed, refunded, draft).

  • Extra Data: This section within the Orders Report provides granular details on various cost components associated with each order:

    • Item costs (excluding fees): Represents the total cost of products within the order (excluding any fees).
    • Fees: This category breaks down various fee types associated with the order:
      • Shipping method fees: Costs related to chosen shipping methods (fixed, percentage-based).
      • Shipping classes fees: Costs associated with assigned shipping classes (fixed, percentage-based).
      • Gateway fees: Fees charged by payment gateways (fixed, percentage-based).
      • Order fees: Fees applied directly to the order (fixed, percentage-based).
      • Per order fees: Specific fees categorized as handling, shipping, or payment.
      • Meta fees: Fees associated with custom meta fields on the order.
      • Profitability Metrics: These metrics provide insights into profitability after considering costs and fees:
        • Shipping to profit: Calculates profit after subtracting shipping costs.
        • Fees to profit: Calculates profit after subtracting all fee types.

Important Note: If you want to view data collected before plugin version 2.0.0, you’ll need to recalculate order costs and profits to ensure accurate reporting.

    • Add “Cost” and “Profit” columns to view individual product profitability.
    • View “Cost” and “Profit” totals reflected in report charts.
  • Categories Tab: Similar to the Products tab, this report lets you:
    • Add “Cost” and “Profit” columns for categories.
    • View “Cost” and “Profit” totals for product categories within charts.
  • Revenue Tab: This report provides:
    • “Cost” and “Profit” totals columns to understand overall store profitability.
    • “Cost” and “Profit” totals reflected in report charts.
  • Stock Tab: This report offers functionalities specific to inventory management:
    • “Cost” and “Profit” columns to analyze profitability per product with stock levels considered.
    • “Category” column for categorization.
    • Filter to restrict the report to products with defined costs.
