Advanced Options: Restrict Access

This knowledge base article explains the “Restrict by User Role” feature within the Advanced Options section of the Cost of Goods for WooCommerce plugin (pro version) by WP Factory. This feature allows you to control which user roles have access to specific functionalities within the plugin.

Finding the Setting:

  1. Navigate to the WooCommerce settings tab in your WordPress dashboard.
  2. Click on the “Cost of Goods” sub-tab.
  3. Go to the “Advanced” sub-tab.

Understanding User Role Restriction:

This feature provides a security layer by letting you restrict access to the Cost of Goods plugin functionalities based on user roles in your WordPress installation. By default, all administrator roles will have access.

Available User Roles:

The plugin offers the following user roles for access control:

  • Administrator (Default: Allowed)
  • Editor
  • Author
  • Contributor
  • Subscriber
  • Customer
  • Shop Manager

Selecting Allowed User Roles:

You can choose which user roles are allowed to access the Cost of Goods plugin functionalities by checking or unchecking the corresponding boxes. Only checked roles will have access.

    • Shop Managers: If you want them to manage cost data and reports.
  • Restrict access:
    • Editor, Author, Contributor, Subscriber, Customer: These roles typically wouldn’t require access to cost data.

  • This is a pro feature of the Cost of Goods for WooCommerce plugin.
  • Ensure you have the pro version activated to access the “Advanced” sub-tab.
  • Carefully consider user roles and access permissions to maintain a secure and efficient store environment.
