Advanced Order Targeting for Admins

The “Additional Custom Emails for WooCommerce” plugin empowers you to create highly targeted custom email notifications. This knowledge base article delves into the advanced order-specific options available for admins within the plugin. These options allow you to define precise criteria for when a custom email is sent, ensuring its relevance to specific orders and customer interactions.

Important Note

These “Order Options” are only relevant for custom emails related to orders. They are ignored for emails triggered by events unrelated to orders (e.g., reset password notification).

Targeting by Products

  • Require Products: Define specific products that must be present in an order for the email to be sent.
  • Exclude Products: Conversely, specify products whose presence in an order should prevent the email from being sent.

Targeting by Product Categories

  • Require Product Categories: Specify product categories that must be included in the order for the email trigger.
  • Exclude Product Categories: Exclude orders containing products from specific categories. (The “Uncategorized” option allows targeting orders with uncategorized products.)

Targeting by Product Tags

  • Require Product Tags: Define product tags that must be present in at least one product within the order for the email to be sent.
  • Exclude Product Tags: Conversely, exclude orders containing products with specific tags.

Targeting by Order Amount

  • Minimum Amount: Set a minimum order amount (subtotal) to trigger the email.
  • Maximum Amount: Define a maximum order amount to restrict the email to orders below a certain value.

Targeting by Payment Gateways

  • Require Payment Gateways: Specify payment gateways used in the order that trigger the email.
  • Exclude Payment Gateways: Conversely, exclude orders using specific payment gateways.

Targeting by Shipping Methods

  • Require Shipping Methods: Define shipping methods that must be used in the order for the email to be sent.
  • Exclude Shipping Methods: Exclude orders using specific shipping methods.

Targeting by Users

  • Require Users: Specify registered users (by their email address) whose orders should trigger the email.
  • Exclude Users: Conversely, exclude orders placed by specific users.

Targeting by User Roles

  • Require User Roles: Define user roles (e.g., customer, administrator) whose orders should trigger the email.
  • Exclude User Roles: Exclude orders placed by users with specific roles.

Targeting by Order Status

  • Require Order Status: Specify order statuses (e.g., “Completed,” “Refunded”) that trigger the email.
  • Exclude Order Status: Conversely, exclude orders with specific statuses.

Logical Operator

Choose the logical operator (“AND” or “OR”) to determine how the defined targeting criteria are combined.

  • AND: The email is only sent if all specified conditions are met.
  • OR: The email is sent if at least one of the specified conditions is met.

Admin Actions

  • This section defines where the “Send Email: Custom Email” option appears within the WooCommerce admin interface.

You can choose to include it in

  • Edit order > Order actions
  • Orders > Bulk actions
  • Orders > Preview
  • Orders > Actions column

Advanced Options (Pro Version)

The Pro version of the plugin offers additional options for advanced targeting, including

  • Stop Emails: Prevent specific default WooCommerce emails from being sent based on order status.
  • Exclude Recipients: Exclude specific email addresses or use wildcards to prevent them from receiving the custom email.

Settings Tools

  • Reset settings: Reset all configuration options within the current custom email section to their default values.
  • Save changes: Apply any modifications you’ve made to the custom email settings.

By effectively utilizing these advanced order targeting options, admins can create highly customized email notifications that are triggered based on specific order characteristics. This allows for more relevant and personalized communication with your customers throughout their WooCommerce journey.
