Reset a settings section #
Every settings section of Cost of Goods: Product Cost & Profit Calculator for WooCommerce has its own reset control, so you can return one sub-tab to its defaults without touching the rest of your configuration. Use it when a section has drifted into a state you would rather start clean than unpick by hand.
Where to find it #
Go to WPFactory > Cost of Goods (also reachable at WooCommerce > Settings > Cost of Goods), open the sub-tab you want to reset, and scroll to the Reset Settings group at the bottom. It contains a single checkbox.
| Group | Checkbox | Option ID | Default |
|---|---|---|---|
| Reset Settings | Reset section settings | alg_wc_cost_of_goods_<section>_reset |
No (unchecked) |
The <section> part of the option ID is the sub-tab you are on (for example orders, tools, advanced). The default Products sub-tab has an empty section id.
How to reset a section #
- Back up first. See the warning below: this cannot be undone.
- Go to WPFactory > Cost of Goods.
- Open the sub-tab you want to reset.
- Scroll to the Reset Settings group at the bottom.
- Tick Reset section settings.
- Click Save changes.
The options for that section are deleted and you will see a confirmation notice. Every option in the section returns to its default value, exactly as on a fresh install.
It is per section, not global #
There is no single button that resets the whole plugin. The reset applies only to the sub-tab you are viewing, so:
- Resetting the Orders sub-tab leaves your Products, Multicurrency and Advanced settings untouched.
- To reset several sub-tabs you must visit each one in turn and repeat the process.
Per-product costs and per-order cost data are stored on individual products and orders, not as section options, so a section reset does not affect them.
Warning: this is irreversible #
A reset permanently deletes the section’s settings. There is no undo, no confirmation dialog, and no recycle bin. The moment you save with the box ticked, the values are gone. Custom text such as the below-cost admin notice, cost field label, and profit templates are ordinary options and are deleted along with everything else in their section.
Take a backup first #
- Take a database backup using your usual backup plugin or host tooling. This is the most reliable option.
- Screenshot the section, including anything below the fold, so you can re-enter values by hand.
- Copy long text fields, such as label and template options, into a text file so you can paste them back.
Sections this applies to #
The Reset Settings group appears at the bottom of every sub-tab: Products, Orders, Shortcodes, Payment Gateways, Shipping Methods, Shipping classes, Multicurrency, Tools, Analytics, Advanced, and Compatibility.
Get more from Cost of Goods #
The reset control works the same in the free and Pro versions. Cost of Goods: Product Cost & Profit Calculator for WooCommerce Pro adds cost and profit in WooCommerce Analytics, order-email cost and profit, multicurrency support, and the orders recalculation tool. See what Pro unlocks.
