To automate stock adjustments in WooCommerce, install Automated Stock Update Triggers for WooCommerce and choose which order events decrease or increase your product stock. Instead of relying on WooCommerce’s fixed built-in behavior, Stock Triggers lets you decide exactly which order statuses and events move stock, so your inventory reflects the real flow of your sales.
What Stock Triggers does #
- Order status based adjustments: decrease or increase stock when an order reaches statuses like Completed, Cancelled, Refunded, On hold, and more.
- Event based adjustments: also trigger on Payment complete, Checkout order processed, and Checkout update order meta.
- Manual control kept: you can still edit stock directly on the product screen at any time. The plugin only changes when automatic adjustments happen.
- Admin order tools: adjust stock when you create orders in the admin, and add Decrease stock / Increase stock bulk actions to the orders list.
Install the plugin #
From the WordPress plugin directory (free version) #
- In your WordPress dashboard, go to Plugins > Add New.
- Search for Automated Stock Update Triggers for WooCommerce.
- Click Install Now, then Activate.
By uploading the zip (used for the Pro version) #
- Get the Pro plugin from the Stock Triggers product page and download the zip.
- Go to Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin.
- Select the zip, click Install Now, then Activate. Uploading a zip is a standard WordPress step, not a Pro-only action.
Open the settings #
Go to WPFactory > Stock Triggers (also reachable at WooCommerce > Settings > Stock Triggers). The tab has two sub-sections, General (the Decrease Stock and Increase Stock triggers) and Admin (order-screen and advanced options).
Note: both the Decrease Stock and Increase Stock sections are disabled by default. On a fresh install the plugin changes nothing until you enable a section and save. See Stock Triggers Options Explained for the setup walkthrough.
