Set a Manual Minimum for Free Shipping in WooCommerce

To set the free shipping minimum order amount by hand, open WPFactory > Left for Free Shipping > Manual min amount in Free Shipping Bar: Amount Left for Free Shipping for WooCommerce and enter the threshold in Amount. Use it when free shipping comes from a non-standard method, not the WooCommerce Free shipping method. It is free.

Do you need a manual amount? #

Usually not. Amount Left for Free Shipping reads the minimum automatically from the WooCommerce Free shipping method, found at WooCommerce > Settings > Shipping > Shipping zones > edit a zone > Free shipping. It uses that method’s Minimum order amount when Free shipping requires… is set to a minimum order amount, a minimum amount OR a coupon, or a minimum amount AND a coupon.

Set a manual amount when:

  • Free shipping comes from another method, such as a zero-cost Flat rate or a table rate plugin.
  • You want a different threshold per user role, currency or shipping zone (free), or per shipping method or shipping class (Pro).

Note: the manual amount only controls the message and progress bar. It does not make any shipping method free, so set the same threshold on the shipping method that actually gives free delivery.

Step by step #

  1. Go to WPFactory > Left for Free Shipping (also reachable at WooCommerce > Settings > Amount Left for Free Shipping) and open Manual min amount.
  2. Keep Enable manual min amount section ticked (it is on by default).
  3. Enter your threshold in Amount, for example 75, and save changes.
  4. Optional: under Extra Options, select user roles, currencies or zones, save, then fill in the amount fields that appear.
  5. Check the cart: the message should now read the amount left against your manual threshold.

Special values #

These two settings decide what happens for edge-case amounts. Each is a single choice, not a list of separate values.

Setting Option ID Choices (default in bold)
Empty or Zero (0) alg_wc_left_to_free_shipping_sv_zero Ignore (fall back to automatic detection), or Free shipping (show the reached message).
Minus one (-1) alg_wc_left_to_free_shipping_sv_minusone Disable (behaves like zero), or Hide (hides the amount left text).

The main Amount field accepts 0 and up. Enter -1 in an Extra Options amount field to hide the message for that role, currency or zone.

Extra options: individual amounts #

Under Extra Options you can select values and save to reveal an Amounts group where you set a separate minimum for each combination. The available types are user roles, currencies, and shipping zones (free), plus shipping methods and shipping classes (Pro). Setting a per-currency amount pairs well with the WooCommerce Currency Switcher compatibility option lower in the section.

Extra manual minimum amounts by role, currency, and zone

If you select two types, for example roles and zones, one field appears for every role and zone pair. Guests are listed as the Guest role. When the cart holds products from several selected shipping classes, Multiple shipping class priority decides whether the highest or lowest matching amount wins.

If it does not work #

  • The message still uses the WooCommerce amount: the manual Amount is 0 and Empty or Zero is set to Ignore, so the plugin falls back to automatic detection.
  • A role or zone ignores its amount: an Extra Options field left at 0 is treated the same way, so that customer gets automatic detection, not your general Amount. Fill in every combination you selected.
  • Converted amounts look wrong: the Currency Switcher option multiplies the amount by the current exchange rate, except for amounts you set per currency.
  • Free shipping is not applied at the reached amount: the plugin shows the message only. Fix the threshold on the shipping method itself.

FAQ #

Where is the WooCommerce free shipping minimum order amount setting? #

In WooCommerce > Settings > Shipping > Shipping zones, edit the zone, then edit its Free shipping method. Set Free shipping requires… to a minimum order amount option and fill in Minimum order amount. The plugin picks this up with no manual amount needed.

Does the manual amount give customers free shipping? #

No. It only drives the amount left text and progress bar. The shipping method still decides the real shipping cost.

Can I set a different free shipping minimum per zone or user role? #

Yes. Per zone, per user role and per currency amounts are free with Extra Options. Per shipping method and per shipping class amounts are Pro.

What does 0 do? #

With the default Ignore, 0 means “detect automatically”. Switch Empty or Zero to Free shipping if 0 should show the reached message instead.
