Fix Conditional Shipping After Site Migration

Problem description #

If Conditional Shipping for WooCommerce: Restrict Shipping Options by Anything stops applying your shipping rules after a migration or site URL change, the stored condition data is usually damaged. Go to WPFactory > Conditional Shipping, re-enter the values in each condition section you use, and click Save changes, then flush permalinks and clear all caches.

Common symptoms:

  • Shipping restrictions that worked before the migration no longer apply.
  • Customers get unrestricted shipping by default, regardless of the conditions.
  • No errors show in the admin, and the plugin appears active.

Cause: some migrations change the site URL or leave serialized settings corrupted, especially when a search-and-replace tool did not handle serialized data correctly. When the stored condition data is damaged, Conditional Shipping cannot read it and the rules stop applying.

Solution, step by step #

  1. Review the settings and re-save them. Go to WPFactory > Conditional Shipping (also reachable at WooCommerce > Settings > Conditional Shipping). Open each condition section you use, re-select or re-enter the saved values (products, tags, cities, user roles, and so on), then click Save changes even if nothing looks different. This rewrites the data cleanly.
  2. Flush permalinks and clear caches. Go to Settings > Permalinks and click Save changes to flush the rewrite rules. If you use caching plugins or server caching, purge all caches (page cache, object cache, CDN).
  3. Test with a fresh cart and address. Place a test order with conditions that should trigger a restriction, then change the shipping address or the cart contents to confirm the logic responds.
  4. Check for corrupted serialized data. If your migration used a search-and-replace tool to swap the old domain for the new one, confirm it handled serialized strings correctly. A plain find-and-replace can break serialized option values and leave the plugin with invalid settings. Re-saving the settings in step 1 fixes most of these.
  5. Reconfigure any changed city values. If city names or address data changed during the migration, re-enter the correct cities in the Cities condition section so they match the values your customers will submit at checkout.

Prerequisites #

  • Admin access to re-save settings and flush caches.
  • If the site URL changed, confirm the WordPress Address and Site Address settings were updated correctly.

Additional notes and prevention #

  • Always use a migration tool that handles serialized data correctly, such as WP-CLI search-replace or a dedicated database migration plugin.
  • After every migration, revalidate all conditional shipping settings before going live.
