Troubleshooting Checklist: Quick Steps to Diagnose Issues

Generic “not working” reports: plugin not appearing or not calculating.

Checklist (numbered quick diagnostic steps)

  1. Confirm plugin & WP/WooCommerce versions: Update plugin and core.
  2. Clear caches: Browser, CDN and server cache.
  3. Test with default theme: Switch to Storefront or Twenty Twenty* and test.
  4. Disable other plugins: Deactivate all but WooCommerce + Free Shipping Bar and test.
  5. Check plugin settings position: Use a position inside the cart totals or cart area that is updated.
  6. Check Console & PHP logs: Capture JS console errors and PHP fatal errors.
  7. Enable WP_DEBUG on staging to get more details.
  8. If using blocks or widgets: Make sure WooCommerce Blocks and page builder versions are up to date.
  9. If behavior is specific to an area (mini-cart, product listing): Try moving shortcode or use Pro AJAX. WordPress.org+1
