To add custom product tabs to your store, install Additional Custom Product Tabs for WooCommerce. The plugin lets you customize the standard WooCommerce tabs (Description, Additional information, Reviews) and add your own custom tabs, either globally for every product or on a single product. This guide covers installation and the first steps after activation.
Before you start #
- WooCommerce, installed and active.
- WordPress 4.4 or newer.
Install from the WordPress plugin directory (free version) #
- In your WordPress dashboard, go to Plugins > Add New.
- Search for Additional Custom Product Tabs for WooCommerce.
- Find the plugin by WPFactory and click Install Now.
- Click Activate.
Install the Pro version from a zip file #
The Pro version is delivered as a zip file when you buy it from the Product Tabs product page. Upload it like any other plugin:
- Go to Plugins > Add New and click Upload Plugin at the top of the page.
- Choose the downloaded zip file and click Install Now.
- Click Activate. Enter your license key when prompted so the plugin can receive updates.
You can run either the free or the Pro version, not both at once. Uploading a zip is the normal way to install any premium plugin: it is not a Pro-only step.
Open the settings #
After activation, go to WPFactory > Product Tabs (also reachable at WooCommerce > Settings > Product Tabs). The settings open on the General section, where you enable the plugin and switch each feature section on or off.
The settings are split into five sections:
- General: master switch and section toggles.
- Standard Tabs: rename, reorder or remove the built-in Description, Additional information and Reviews tabs.
- Custom Tabs: All Products: add a tab that shows on every product.
- Custom Tabs: Per Product: add tabs to a single product from its edit screen.
- Variations Tabs: add one tab per variation on variable products.
Free vs Pro #
The free version lets you add one global custom tab and one per-product custom tab. Product Tabs Pro removes those limits, so you can add an unlimited number of global tabs and as many per-product tabs as you need. Standard tab customization and variations tabs work the same in both versions.
