Minimum/Maximum Quantity Settings Not Working

If min or max quantity limits in Min Max Step Quantity Limits Manager for WooCommerce are ignored, the section is usually not enabled. Go to WPFactory > Quantity Manager (also reachable at WooCommerce > Settings > Product Quantity), open Minimum Quantity or Maximum Quantity, tick the enable checkbox at the top, and save.

Also confirm Enable plugin in the General section and clear caches. Then work through the checklist below.

Checklist #

  1. The section is enabled. Each rule type has its own switch. At WPFactory > Quantity Manager (also WooCommerce > Settings > Product Quantity), open the Minimum Quantity or Maximum Quantity section and confirm the enable checkbox at the top is ticked, then re-save.
  2. The value is set in the right place. A store-wide value goes in All products. A single product’s value comes from its own field (Pro), which overrides the global one.
  3. The plugin is enabled. In the General section, make sure Enable plugin is ticked.
  4. No conflicting plugin. Another quantity or cart plugin can override these rules. Temporarily deactivate other cart/quantity plugins to test.
  5. Clear caches. Page and object caches can serve old markup; clear them after saving.

The minimum is set, but the quantity box still shows 1 #

Quantity Manager adds your minimum to the quantity field, but it does not change the number the field starts with unless you ask it to. By default, General > Initial Quantity Options > Single product page is set to Do not Change, so the box can still load with 1.

  1. Go to WPFactory > Quantity Manager and open the General section.
  2. Under Initial Quantity Options, set Single product page to Min quantity. Set Archive pages the same way if you show quantity boxes on shop and category pages.
  3. To stop customers from typing a lower number, open the Advanced section and tick Force on change > Min/max quantity (and Quantity step if you use steps). The field then corrects the value as soon as the customer changes it.
  4. Save changes and clear your page cache.

Only one product ignores the rule #

  • The product has its own value. With Per product enabled (Pro), a value entered on the product edit screen replaces the All products value for that product. Open the product and check its quantity fields.
  • A category value applies. With Per Category enabled (Pro), the value set on the product’s category can apply instead. Check the category’s quantity fields.
  • It is a variation. Variation-level limits have their own checks. See Variation-Specific Min/Max/Step Settings Not Applied.

Customers can add less than the minimum #

  • “Add to cart” validation is off. The default, Do not validate, lets any quantity into the cart. The rules are then checked on the cart page and when the order is placed (Advanced > Validate on checkout, on by default). To stop it at the product page, set General > “Add to cart” validation to Validate and add notices or Validate and auto-correct quantities. See How to Validate and Auto-Correct Cart Quantities.
  • Stock is lower than the minimum. When fewer items are in stock than the minimum, the customer cannot reach the minimum. On the Minimum Quantity section, choose how to handle it: Add to cart button > Hide “Add To Cart” button when stock < min quantity (Pro), or Allow selling below minimum (Pro), see How to Allow Selling Below the Minimum Quantity for Low Stock.
  • Stock equals the minimum. This is expected: only one quantity is possible, so with the Hide quantity input options on (Product page, Cart and Loop, all on by default) the quantity box is not shown. Untick them on the Minimum Quantity section to show a read-only box instead.

How to confirm it is fixed #

Open the product in a private browser window. The quantity box should start at your minimum, and adding fewer items should show the minimum quantity message in the cart.
