Fixing Incorrect Stock Levels

If your product stock numbers look wrong after using Automated Stock Update Triggers for WooCommerce, the cause is usually the starting numbers or an overlap between the plugin’s triggers and WooCommerce’s own behavior.

Check these first #

  • Starting stock: make sure each product has Manage stock on and an accurate Stock quantity under Product data > Inventory. Triggers adjust from whatever the current number is.
  • Manual edits: stock you change by hand, or through an import or another plugin, is not tracked by Stock Triggers. Reconcile those before judging the automated numbers.
  • Overlapping triggers: if both a status trigger and Payment complete are selected for the same section, they refer to the same order. Stock still only moves once per order, but review your selection so you are not counting on two events for one sale.
  • Remove standard triggers: if this is off, WooCommerce’s built-in stock reduction runs in addition to your triggers. Leaving it on (the default) avoids double handling.
  • Increase limits: a restore only returns stock that was previously decreased for that order, so it will not correct a number that drifted for another reason.

Confirm with the log #

Enable Debug in the Admin sub-section and place a test order. The log at WooCommerce > Status > Logs (source stock-triggers) shows each reduce and restore, which makes it easy to see where a number came from.
