To tune how Wishlist for WooCommerce runs on your server, go to WPFactory > Wishlist > Advanced. There you set the Frontend Ajax URL, how guest wishlists are stored (Cookie or WooCommerce Session) and for how long, and which JavaScript events refresh or toggle the wishlist. Leave the defaults unless something is not working.
Accessing advanced settings #
Go to WPFactory > Wishlist (also reachable at WooCommerce > Settings > Wishlist) and open the Advanced tab.

Frontend Ajax URL #
This is the admin-ajax.php address the wishlist uses on the front end to add, remove and load items. The settings advise leaving it alone unless something is not working, for example the wishlist is always empty or items cannot be added. The field lists suggestions built from your site address: the relative /wp-admin/admin-ajax.php path and full URLs. A full URL can help on sites with specific security setups or custom directory structures.
Guest user data #
- Cookie: the default. The guest’s anonymous wishlist ID is kept in a browser cookie.
- WooCommerce Session: the ID is kept in the WooCommerce customer session. The settings suggest trying it if you have issues with caching.
- Expire time and Unit: how long a guest wishlist is kept (Days, Weeks, Months or Years). Guest data can be cleared earlier by an object cache or server actions. See guest wishlists and their expiration.
JavaScript events #
- Javascript update events (Pro): events that force the wishlist to update, one per line. Use it when another plugin loads products by AJAX (filters, infinite scroll) and new products lose their wishlist state. See refresh the wishlist with JavaScript events.
- Javascript toggle events: the events that add or remove an item when a button is used. Default toggle events apply on regular screens and Mobile events on touch screens. Common values are
click,dblclick,mouseupandtouchend.
Performance tips from the other tabs #
- Font Awesome: if your theme already loads Font Awesome, untick General > Font Awesome > Load FontAwesome to avoid loading it twice.
- Page caching: keep your cache plugin and tick General > Cache so pages stay cached while wishlist elements load live.
- Guest data: a shorter guest expire time means fewer stored guest lists.
Saving your changes #
After configuring the advanced settings, click Save changes and clear your cache.
If something breaks after a change #
- Items stop saving: clear Frontend Ajax URL to return to the default.
- Buttons react twice or not at all: restore both toggle event fields to
mouseup,touchend.
FAQ #
Is the Advanced tab free? #
Yes, except Javascript update events, which is Pro.
Should guests use Cookie or WooCommerce Session? #
Start with Cookie. Switch to WooCommerce Session if guest wishlists empty themselves on a cached site.
