“Add to Wishlist” Button Not Working

If the “Add to Wishlist” button in Wishlist for WooCommerce does not appear or does nothing when clicked, first confirm the plugin is enabled under WPFactory > Wishlist > General and the button is switched on in the Buttons tab. Then rule out page caching, JavaScript errors and theme or plugin conflicts, in that order.

The button does not appear #

  1. Plugin enabled: in WPFactory > Wishlist (also reachable at WooCommerce > Settings > Wishlist) > General, Wishlist for WooCommerce (Enable the plugin) must be ticked.
  2. Right button switched on: on the Buttons tab, the thumb button is on by default for Product page and Product loop, but the text button is off by default for Single product page and Loop.
  3. Guests: if logged-out visitors see nothing, check Interaction with unlogged Users > Visibility.
  4. Hidden by tag (Pro): products carrying a tag listed in Hide by tag show no button.
  5. Theme hooks: the buttons print on standard WooCommerce hooks. If your theme or a page builder skips them, pick another Hook for the text button, use Custom Hook (Pro), or place the Pro [alg_wc_wl_toggle_item_btn] shortcode.
  6. Block product grids: tick Thumb button – Loop > Gutenberg compatibility. It currently supports the “Products by Category” block only.
  7. Icons missing: keep General > Font Awesome > Load FontAwesome ticked, otherwise the icon can render as an empty square or not at all.

The button appears but nothing happens #

  1. Check for JavaScript errors. Open the browser console (F12 > Console), click the button, and look for red errors. An error from another script can stop the wishlist script from running.
  2. Rule out caching. The button sends a security token that is printed into the page. If a cache serves an old copy of the page, the request is rejected. Tick General > Cache (Ignore cache by loading the wish list elements via javascript) and clear the cache. See wishlist and cache plugins.
  3. Check the Ajax URL. If items never get added or the list is always empty, set Advanced > Frontend Ajax URL to one of the suggested addresses shown under the field.
  4. Products loaded by AJAX: if buttons stop working after filtering or infinite scroll, enable Advanced > Javascript update events (Pro). See refresh the wishlist with JavaScript events.
  5. Find conflicts. Deactivate other plugins temporarily, or switch to a default theme such as Storefront, and test again. Re-enable them one by one to find the one that interferes.

FAQ #

Why does the button show but not on some products? #
